The Team
Simon Cathro
Founder & Managing Principal
Simon has over 25 years of experience in the field of insolvency and corporate restructuring services, including:
Experience involving the ability to assess the financial viability of businesses by conducting an analysis of profitability, business liquidity and strength of forecasting. He has reviewed and analysed the financial position of entities and provided opinions to the Board of Directors.
Experience involving the management of small, medium and complex formal appointments. His duties included conducting investigations into the affairs of a company, analysing financial trends, assessing business performance and viability, identifying factors leading up to, and causing, the point of insolvency and undertaking recovery actions on behalf of creditors (which includes complex litigation).
Andrew Blundell
Principal
Andrew has over 16 years of corporate advisory and insolvency experience, handling extensive trading voluntary administration appointments, property enforcement and dealing with the complexities arising from specialised trust and corporate structures as well as cross border recovery considerations.
He is a Registered Liquidator, CPA and Business Advisory Professional.
Andrew helps clients by providing corporate strategy and advisory services to companies, partnerships and individuals, turnaround, voluntary administration, deed of company arrangement, liquidation, and insolvency advice.
He provides Safe Harbour structuring and advice, completing risk assessments and reviews for clients over a wide variety of industries, including financial services, managed property funds, manufacturing, retail and transport.
Andrew also provides detailed reporting to financiers, debtors, creditors and other relevant stakeholders and Government agencies, including the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, the Australian Taxation Office and the Federal and Supreme Courts.

Navin Lal
Canberra Senior Manager
Navin joined Cathro & Partners in May 2022 with over 20 years of insolvency experience across a number of national insolvency firms.
Navin has extensive experience in both personal and corporate insolvency.
He has gained experience across a large range of industries including mining, insurance, hospitality, engineering, renewable energy, educational resources, building and construction and telecommunication.
Navin is a Chartered Accountant, is a professional member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA), and is also a NSW Justice of the Peace.
Navin can assist clients in Hindi.
In his spare time, Navin enjoys playing golf, working on project cars and travelling.
Kira Yu
Manager
Kira has 9 years of insolvency and restructuring experience, having been exposed to a variety of formal appointments including Voluntary Administrations, Deed of Company Arrangements, Receiverships, Mortgagee in Possessions, Creditors’ Voluntary and Court Liquidations and Bankruptcies.
Kira’s focus in recent years has been assisting non-bank financiers with the enforcement of their securities, providing Safe Harbour advice and preparing Expert Reports which can be used in recovery actions and court proceedings.
Kira is a member of the CA and ARITA. She also holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Professional Accounting.
In her free time, Kira enjoys playing badminton, bouldering and volleyball.
Declan Lane
Queensland State Manager
Declan joined Cathro & Partners in December 2021 with 6 years of insolvency experience in a national insolvency firm and a short stint in corporate finance. Declan has extensive experience in both personal and corporate insolvency.
He has gained experience across a large range of industries including retail, manufacturing, hospitality, commercial property, building and construction and agriculture.
Declan is a Chartered Accountant, is a professional member of the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA), a member of the ARITA Young Professionals Committee (Queensland) since 2019 and is also a Justice of the Peace
In 2019, he was the winner of The Accountants Daily 30 Under 30 Restructuring & Insolvency and a finalist in 2020 & 2021.
Declan can assist clients in Spanish having lived and worked abroad in Madrid, Spain.
In his spare time, Declan enjoys going to the gym, running, cycling and travelling.
Will Evans
Senior Consultant
Will joined Cathro & Partners in August 2021 after 2.5 years working in a national insolvency firm.
Will has experience in corporate insolvency across a range of industries including retail, software, manufacturing, hospitality, commercial property, building and construction.
Will holds a Bachelor of Arts (Majoring in Economics and Mandarin Chinese) from the University of Sydney. He is currently studying to complete the Chartered Accountants program.
Adam Dajani
Consultant
Adam Dajani joined Cathro & Partners in February 2022 after working for a large registry company.
Adam has experience in Creditor Meetings, Database Management, Creditor Management and Technical Coding.
Adam has as Bachelor of Commerce, Majoring in Professional Accounting from Macquarie University. He is currently working to complete his Diploma of Chartered Accounting
Deirdre Bryant
Consultant
Deirdre is an experienced Industry Specialist with demonstrated history of working in the Accounting Industry who works closely with CFOs to identify and change inadequate accounting processes within SMEs.
Recent experience includes:

Implementing accounts management processes at a national accounting firm

Improvement of accounting processes at a commercial electrical installation business
Prior to joining Cathro Partners, Deirdre has worked at boutique, national and international restructuring practices. She also has worked in accounts management positions at service industry companies as well as the major banks.
Nick Shearer
Consultant
Nick Shearer joined Cathro & Partners in May 2022,
previously having worked in audit for a large accounting firm.
Nick is currently studying to complete his Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in accounting and finance at the University of Queensland.
In his spare time he likes to play golf and go fishing.
